ImageAfter what has to be the LONGEST winter and soggy spring on record here in Chicagoland, we FINALLY get to break out the "NEW" paint job and much MORE.

The Spectrum Illuminations' Frantic Fueler kicks off her 10th season with a trip to the Technical Center of Dupage. It's a great way to start the season by dusting off the Frantic Fueler and talking with the students who may be interested in a career in the automotive field.

Dragster Dave and I enjoy spending the day talking with students and answering questions.

For me it's a little about giving back, as I graduated from TCD (DAVEA) a scant 30 years ago.

I was fortunate in the fact that one of the teachers there, Mr. Jim Krudl had some racing background, saw a troubled kid and helped get him back on the right track. To this day I still owe Mr. Krudl and the guidance he provided. We (his students) are called Krudlites, I'm certain that all of us feel the same about Jim, a tremendous amount of respect, reverence and friendship.

The students will be the very first to see the new paint in all her glory, quite a change from the old paint job.

All the guys (and gals) at Hammer'd did a great job giving the Frantic car an awesome retro 60's look, lots of Candy Apple Red and several different trick effects that add allot to the overall look on the new tin.

Zach and Dave did a fabulous job with the retro look which is funny because neither of them is old enough to have seen it first hand. They took Dragster Daves' idea and created dragster art, never fear even though it looks like jewelery, she's still the fire breathing monster we raced last year.

The entire team is ready to go and we kick it off this Friday, as they say "Light'em if you got'em!"

C'ya out there.
